Right before the Christmas holiday, I always feel exhausted and spent. Yearly, I have the thought, "I have no more ideas left". Then magically the holidays are over, the decorations are put away, the house gets cleaned, and I have a burst of creative energy. It happens every year. It's a little cliche but true, January rolls around and I feel like I have a blank slate. It's always exciting!
The first thing I did, creatively, after the holidays this year, was finish what I have come to call, "The Cinnamon Roll Series".
As you know, I've become a little obsessed with putting photos on wood. What you may not know, is that I have been obsessed with my husbands' homemade cinnamon rolls for years. Every time he makes them, I take pictures. I thought it was about time they had the place of honor that they deserve. I have a "fence in the snow" series coming up too. Because, a fence in the snow? What's not to love?
Then came pom poms.
Lots and lots of pom poms. I'm working on some pom pom thank you notes to inspire me to actually write thank you notes. If they work out, I might put some in my Etsy shop.
Whenever I let my youngest use my computer during the pom pom making extravaganza, I found a new pom pom maker installation.
Looks like he's feeling the creative energy too!
I've also started working on some knit hearts and Valentine's Day cards.
I love hearts and seasonal decorations. Particularly at this time of year. (It's bleak during the winter months in the Northeast) I hang the hearts everywhere, the light fixture over the kitchen table, door knobs, and every window latch I can find. I needed a super quick, easy pattern for hearts, so, I made one up. I'll be putting up a free PDF here soon! I'm also going to make up some kits with beautiful hand-dyed yarns and merino wool stuffing! I'll put them in my Etsy shop too.
I hope the New Year finds you with renewed creative energy and excitment for the new year ahead! Thanks for reading!
